project goal,

to fabricate and install gfrp wall for a luxury apartment building in new york

this feature wall is located in an exterior patio of zaha hadid’s 520w 28th st luxury apartment building. the greenwall, name given by the planters that form part of the geometry, was fabricated with two different specially toned gfrp (glass fiber reinforced plastic). the gfrp pieces have a sanblasted finish simulating a more concrete like finish of the complete wall.

the molds for the planters were specially milled because of their complex geometry with a 7 axis robot.

the gfrp pieces were engineered and fabricated in kinetica and sent to be installed by a ny union company twin resources.

crates were sent from monterrey to ny in order of installation, and some even arrived between 48 to 72 hours.
