The EQUUS 333 complex is a mixed-use development featuring two office towers with designed by Duda-Paine Architects. Our team was appointed to fabricate and install a 70m (230’) long metallic-sculpted spine structure in the motor lobby, which serves as the connection between the towers at the ground level.

Due to the complexity of the connections between the pipes and the main spine structure of the motor lobby, a custom computational script was developed. This script automates the extraction of the pipe’s curves and automatically generates a volumetric model, making it easier to extract the steel pipes shape needed to assemble each piece with its intersecting counterparts.

The spine structure is made up of 500 individual steel pipes ranging in diameter from 2 to 10 inches, with each pipe having a unique intersection with the adjacent ones. These pipes were fabricated at Kinetica's workshop to achieve the precise curvature needed to create smooth connections. The structure was pre-assembled on the workshop to ensure the structural continuity of the structure. These segments were then divided into smaller, transportable segments and shipped to the site. On-site, our skilled team assembled the segments and applied the final paint coating to complete the project.
